Why Live & Teach in Pueblo?

Pueblo offers a variety of local charms, like specialty delis, family-owned farm stands, hometown cafes and coffee shops, not to mention our world famous Pueblo chile peppers (and the annual Pueblo Chile & Frijole Festival). Downtown Pueblo offers numerous restaurants, coffee shops, microbreweries, hotels, boutique shops, yoga studios and a growing art scene, all within a mile or two of The Connect School.

Pueblo boasts 25 miles of concrete/paved multi-use trails along the Fountain Creek and Arkansas River extending from CSU-Pueblo to the north entrance of Lake Pueblo State Park. These trails easily connect to some great bike routes and there is also a growing number of marked bike lanes throughout town.

Lake Pueblo State Park has 40 miles of single track multi-use trails available for hikers, runners, mountain bikers and equestrians. Pueblo has many great parks as well that offer public swimming pools, tennis courts, ball fields, a renowned 18-hole disc golf course and more. With Pueblo's 300+ sunny days per year, you can easily enjoy a healthy, active lifestyle.

Memorial Hall, Sangre de Cristo Arts Center, El Pueblo History Museum and others offer community classes, concerts, theatre, art openings, dance performances and more.

How is The Connect School different?

How does The Connect School go above and beyond to take care of students and faculty? Our school's model is in alignment with The Coalition of Essential Schools. We set the tone of decency and trust with the students and coach them to learn how to in effect teach themselves with our guidance. This role is particularly rewarding to an educator. We are empowering students to develop a love and affinity for learning and leading. We help students to develop life, social and critical thinking skills far beyond what other schools are able to.

Connect's teaching model also includes active participation from parents. With an open line of communication we can work together to create an environment where students will achieve the most success.

Our downtown campus offers many fun and productive teaching opportunities -from social outings to the ice arena, going out to lunch to learning how local government is run at City Hall. Our students develop a detailed understanding of how to be successful, happy and contributing citizens who will understand how to take an active role in our democracy.

Our teachers have a strong influence on how we incorporate the curriculum into the classroom and beyond. Teachers are expected to maintain and expand competencies and to collaborate in creating an effective classroom. We are looking for dedicated, passionate, creative, enthusiastic and innovative educators. If we are describing you, please apply for an open position!
